Leader’s long established collaboration with Hainbuch now offers customers that have implemented SPANNTOP, a new ‘must have’ accessory - Quick-Change End-Stops - that save both time and money.
VarioPart and VarioQuick are two variable end-stop systems that ensure significantly more flexibility, and to a great extent make bespoke end-stop design unnecessary.
Two systems for even greater flexibility
Using standardised workpiece end-stops, valuable time can be saved in work preparation, set-up times are drastically reduced, and the user always has the suitable end-stop at the ready. Leader recommends the VarioPart system for precise and rigid clamping. It functions on the same principle as a gauge block box and can be height-adjusted in 1 mm increments with precision ground plates. With a face run out of < 0.02 mm on the portion of the end-stop that contacts the workpiece. VarioPart is ideal for finished part machining.
The VarioQuick variant is designed for fast, flexible clamping. It works with a precision trapezoidal thread that allows fast adjustment of the clamping length. A half turn corresponds axially to 1 mm. In addition, Leader also offers end-stop blanks for workpiece end-stops or front end-stops.

Ice provides the natural fixturing choice
An ice cube tray stuck in the freezer or frost holding wipers to windshields on a winter morning are nature’s way of showing the strong adhesive power of ice.

A world leader in the use of this technology, French company AMCC uses the concept to develop its GF Series of icing plates. These plates use the power of ice to hold parts for milling, turning or grinding. This new clamping system is rigid and does not induce stress into the part. It holds parts on a single face, is fast and easy to use and can firmly hold limitless shapes and materials.
On metals, ice has a tensile strength of 1.48 N/mm2, compared to magnets at 1.17 N/mm2 or a vacuum at just 0.09 N/mm2. Using icing plates removes the need for costly bespoke fixturing assemblies. And, there is no distortion and breakage due to clamping and/or unclamping. Whatever the shape, fragile parts are held firmly in place and without stress.

MMY PRODUCTIVITY
Featuring an award-winning design, MultiChuck MMY brings a host of advantages to the self-centring of round parts on vertical and horizontal machining centres, milling machines and grinders.
Unlike traditional side lock/unlock units the simple top face operation of the MultiChuck MMY means that the chucks can be tightly packed on to the base plate, increasing the density of the workpieces loaded on the machine’s table to maximise the running time of the spindle.
Available in two- or three-jaw configurations, MultiChuck MMY combines fast initial jaw travel with controlled second-stage clamping to offer a large jaw opening with high gripping force.
Jaw strokes are 4, 5, 8 and 10 mm across the four variants and the low unit height, from just 25 to 40 mm, maximises the machine's Z axis.
